Familiar Faces

Today my best boss ever surprised me with a visit at work. It was so great to see her that I kinda wished I still worked for her! :( Thanks for making my day Karen! You're truly the best! :)

Biped?

When I first started training Tank, I decided he should learn some silly stuff, not just the traditional sit, stay, and rollover. So I taught him how to do something I called "the meerkat". Now whenever he wants something or wants me to know how good he is, he "meerkats"...for several minutes he becomes a biped and he's been doing it so much lately that Spencer and I are starting to worry that he's on two legs more often than he's on all four and this isn't natural for him. It is funny and cute but it just might be a sign of training gone bad.

I "LOVE" The Beatles!

Its no secret to most that I love the Beatles...to the point of a borderline obsession even. I got chills when I found out there was a Cirque du Soleil show dedicated to them when we were vacationing here in Las Vegas last March. I jumped for joy when I got free tickets to see that very show my first month of working at The Mirage and cried when I saw it. And I was of course ecstatic when Spencer got a job with the show, thinking I could watch it every night if I wanted to. It turned out that Cirque employees don't get endless amounts of free tickets or even discounts on tickets, but somehow, despite all that, I have gotten to see the best show in Las Vegas, "Love", FIVE times in the last 10 months. The show is so incredible and there is so much going on at once and so many themes and so much history in it, that I see something new or learn something new each time I watch it. Tonight was no exception. These men were incredible, they are an amazing part of and impact on history, and hearing their music can change my mood in a flash, so I can't help but gush about them, their music, this show, and how lucky I feel to have it be a significant part of my life. I'm so glad Spencer's talent and skills can be a part of something I love so much! :) Here are some pictures of the show I stole from the internet just for kicks...

Music is history!

It's no surprise to some that I have bad days at work. Perhaps my worst days are the ones where the weather is bad, so only a few people come in and that makes the day go by super slow. When I'm sitting poolside and have nothing better to do than dislike my job and let my mind wander, the one thing I am always thankful for is the fact that The Mirage has a good soundtrack of the most random songs ever and they are, for the most part, a good mix of great tunes. (Although the majority of my co-workers would DEFINITELY disagree!) So today, while I was waiting for something exciting to happen or for the wind to blow hard enough that we would close (neither happened), I started to think about each song I heard, how I connect it to a certain part of my life (because life has a soundtrack for those of you who didn't know), and how amazing some of the artists were. Then I started thinking about all the artists and songs I've been lucky enough to hear live and the result is this silly blog! :)
