Oh Cubs!

Many of us kids have a fond memory of Dad treating all of his kids, siblings, nieces and nephews to a Cubs game one year where we got tons of nosebleed seats and only 4 seats very close to the dugout. Dad spent the entire game trekking back and forth from those 2 sections with 3 different kids at a time so that each of us got a chance to enjoy the view from the good seats for a few innings. So, in another attempt to do something to honor Dad and celebrate his life, we got as many Loutsch's as we could to go to a Cubs game. The game was BRUTAL and the Cubs did awful, but we all had a great time anyway! (It was also Spencer's first Cubs game at Wrigley Field! YAY!)

Funeral

We buried Dad today. The ceremony with full military honors was beautiful and well deserved and made me more proud of Dad than I already was. The finality of it all made it hard to breath though. It just doesn't seem real. I keep thinking he's just in bed or at work or something and he'll come walking through a door at any moment. I'm sure it will feel this way for awhile. While all of our family is here, we are doing our best to honor Dad and celebrate his life in ways that he would appreciate and in ways that he would celebrate anything himself. After the funeral today we had a luncheon with all of Dad's favorite people at Cemeno's and even took family pictures.
Lots and lots of Loutsch's!

My little family
We finished the evening with everyone back at our house for a huge fireworks show just like Dad would have done if he were here and all of his family were visiting him! Tomorrow we're off to a tour of his work and a Cubs game at Wrigley Field! We love you Dad and miss you SO MUCH!
