Babymoon Day 2

Today was too sunny of a day NOT to go to the beach! So we headed to Ocean Beach for the morning and afternoon. The sun was hot, but the breeze was cool...just enough for Spencer to get a sunburn and me to keep my hoodie on....no need to show off my voluptuous belly anyway ha ha. It was a beautiful day to spend on the water and it was extremely relaxing!
When we were done in the sun, we headed back to our hotel room for lunch (leftovers from dinner last night) and to take care of some business (oh yeah, did we mention, while on our babymoon, we also managed to buy a house back in Las Vegas?), and then we headed across the street to explore Balboa Park. Its a very unique area with every type of garden and museum you could imagine. We enjoyed a very long (read, hard on my baby belly bearing back) but serene walk through the park to see the sights and map out our path to get to the zoo on Sunday.
We finished off the day with dinner for 2.5 at a fine establishment in the Gaslamp District
Ha ha just kidding. Although we did stuff ourselves with ice cream and chocolate right around dinner time, we finished our evening off with a late night dinner at a delicious pizza place in Hillcrest called Pizza Nova. It was great! Tomorrow we head to Sea World. Goodnight!

Babymoon Day 1

We arrived in San Diego last night and are staying at a really quaint hotel built in 1928! At first I was a little creeped out by it, thinking it was haunted, but this morning when I woke up, I heard birds chirping outside my window with a cool breeze blowing in and when I got in the shower, I could smell the rose garden six floors below. Its in a really cute area of San Diego called Balboa Park and we are loving it so far.
We headed off to Escondido this morning to go to the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park. On the way we past a huge, beautiful vineyard on San Pasqual Valley Road. Normally I would insist on some wine tasting and purchasing, but I didn't think that would be so good for the baby so we passed.
When we got the Wild Animal Park or the Safari Park as it will be officially known as starting tomorrow apparently, we got the VIP treatment. A friend of mine connected me with a rhino keeper there who left us passes and took us on a 2 plus hour tour of their extensive plains area which is normally only tour-able for a large extra fee. The highlight of that tour for me was definitely seeing my very first baby, a rhino named Dakarai...not so much a baby anymore, but a 2800 pound, 5 year old rhino who they are trying to get to become a mommy herself.
Speaking of babies, there were babies all over this facility. They are definitely doing something right and their animals are obviously extremely happy as successful breeding is a good sign of that. There were big babies, little babies, and babies on the way ALL over the place!
What a great day and an awesome start to our Babymoon. Now we are headed to Arrevederci for a nice authentic Italian dinner.

Happy Birthday Kayla Rose!

As of 10:29 AM Canada time, we have a new niece, Kayla Rose. She is the first girl on the O'Neill side (Dang it, they beat us to it!), weighing in at a whopping 9lbs. 4 ounces and measuring 22 inches long. Its fun to not just welcome her as our niece, but also as Baby O's newest cousin. We are SUPER excited for our trip to Canada at the end of April to meet her and see her big brother Brennan, mommy and daddy, and of course the Winnipeg countryside (???). Congratulations Claphams! We love you lots...all FOUR of you!

On The Way To Arizona...

Spencer's friend Matt is moving to Arizona. He and another friend Adam decided to make a stop to visit us in Las Vegas on their way. Last night we went to Yard House....where the boys took full advantage of their yards and their pregnant designated driver. I on the other hand was bored out of my mind drinking water (8 glasses to be exact and 1 rootbeer) and waiting for them to be done...they kept ordering and ordering and ordering. They were quite obnoxious and amusing and I FINALLY convinced them it was time to go home...where they promptly bought more beer, turned on Star Wars and passed out about ten minutes later. Ha ha! I hope they had fun together! :)
