John's Visit!

A few days ago I got a text message from my friend from high school John Bily. It said, "FYI, I will be in Vegas tomorrow thru Friday! I hope I get to see you." AHHHH! :) Short notice for my fellow obsessed with the Beatles friend. So my first mission was to get him Love tickets which I hope will be a success. Luckily I'm off work while he's here, so this afternoon, we met up with him and his girl Kari at our favorite Yard House for happy hour and some serious catching up...its been 11 years since we've seen eachother. It was great to meet Kari and great for me to have John meet Spencer. They seemed to hit it off pretty well. I'm so glad I got to see him. Its been so long but it didn't feel like it had been 11 years! :) Hope you enjoy Love tomorrow night John and Kari! :) Don't be silly and try to walk! (They thought since I said Yard House was just north of Mandalay Bay it was in walking distance. Not so much. They ran out of sidewalk (and probably overheated) at the "Welcome To Las Vegas" sign and broke down and texted us asking us to pick them up! Silly kids!) :)

2 Months Away!

Only 2 more months until our wedding day! Seems crazy that we started the countdown at 14 months! Our first round of RSVP's are due today, so its exciting to start getting an idea of who will share the day with us and how many programs and favors and table cards I need to make. I am at the point now where I visit Michael's craft store at least once a week for more supplies. I think they all know me, my wedding colors, etc. by now. We've even started to put things aside in suitcases for our trip to Oregon and our honeymoon. And I have my final dress fitting in 2 weeks! Woohoo! :)

Criss Angel Is Not That Cool

Tonight Spencer and I attended the Cirque du Soleil anniversary party. It was quite the shindig. It was for all the Cirque show employees of Las Vegas and it was at the LAX Nightclub at the Luxor hotel. Unfortunately it was for ALL Cirque employees which meant Criss Angel was there. The original title of this blog was going to be "People Who Are Cooler Than Criss Angel" but all the pictures of people I took with crazy hair, crazy outfits, etc. didn't turn out because of the dark lighting and crappy camera I had to work with. People were either in 2 camps: running up to Criss trying to get their picture taken with him (if they could get by his unnecessary security) or sitting around glaring at him and plotting how to make a fool of him in front of everyone (possibly the reason for the security in the first place). Either way it was fun to think of ways to kick his butt even though none of us would actually do it. The party was pretty fun. Spencer and I didn't feel the dancing too much so we didn't really dance but we did enjoy our 2 free drinks and some gourmet snacks. We just did some mingling, took a cute picture and went on our merry way. (Too bad there were no Beatles there...even Yoko Ono would have been cool compared to Criss Angel! ;))

Wedding Planning Is Not Stressful

Ok, so it is...no matter how you swing it, no matter how much I am NOT a "bridezilla", no matter how organized I am, it is still stressful. But not stressful like other things in life. Not to me anyway. I enjoy planning this wedding. I enjoy making lists, tying bows and knots, folding paper, making more lists, addressing envelopes, checking things off of lists, calling people, shopping for the best deals, finding ways to save money, and making some more lists. I'm not at all sick of navy blue, teal, or pink...yet. I'm ahead of schedule on everything (no matter how many things try to happen to set me back). I've only had 2 major break downs (I ran out of tape and paper in the middle of a huge project and one of my attendants dropped out) and about 3 minor ones (being repeatedly informed that yet another sibling or parent or grandparent wasn't coming to the wedding) in almost a year of wedding planning. I think that's pretty good...well, except for that paper and tape one...that one was a little ridiculous!
So what if the only family members coming to my wedding are my mom and my brother and sister-in-law? Who cares if one of my attendants dropped out and I have one less person on my already little side of the wedding guests AND I had to re-make all the programs? Who cares if Spencer and I are going broke? Who cares that Spencer's ring was too big even though we ordered the right size and so now we have to get him another one? Who cares if I have to bring my dog in the car with my wedding dress for a 17 hour drive to Oregon? Most of you are probably thinking "HEATHER DOES!" Well, sure, I do...but, what can I do?
I've slowly been letting all these things pile up on me over the past couple of weeks and have ALMOST lost sight of the important things. Jeanie sent us her draft of our wedding ceremony this morning and it hit me. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED IN 65 DAYS! WHO CARES WHO IS THERE AS LONG AS ME, SPENCER (AND JEANIE) ARE THERE?! And I get a bonus. 5, hopefully 6, of my best friends ARE going to be there. My Mom is going to walk me down the aisle and that means the world to me. My brother and sister-in-law are coming. Spencer and I are going to look HOT (I hope). And once Spencer and I are married, we are one, and so are all of our family and friends. So every single guest at our wedding is not his side/my side, but OUR side! Oh and after the ceremony we get to party and eat cake and then after that we get to go on our HONEYMOON! WOOHOO! (I didn't really forget any of this completely, mind you, I just let everything else get in the way.)
So...this is your requested wedding update...its not much of an update, its just where I'm at right now. :) Everything is actually going really smoothly other than the lack of money and what not causing people to say no (which we kind of expected anyway). And as soon as I finish this blog, I'm going to go finish re-making some programs, and then we will be all caught up and ahead of the game in fact. I have even started putting things aside in a suitcase for our honeymoon! 65 days and counting....

Fleetwood Mac!

As most of you know, I'm pretty passionate about music. My favorite is from the oldies and classic rock genre, thanks to my Mom's tunes being forced upon me when I was growing up. Ironically, she doesn't like that music anymore, and I love it more than ever. Up until tonight, I had seen ALL of my favorite bands in concert except for 2....Fleetwood Mac and of course, The Beatles (which I will never see, but can always shoot for Paul McCartney). I have seen Stevie Nicks in concert, but not Fleetwood Mac. In February, Spencer scrounged up our extra cash (Hahahahaha...extra cash...) and bought me tickets to see Fleetwood Mac. He even bought one for himself so I wouldn't have to go alone. In the past 4 months, I have forced him to listen to their 2-disc Greatest Hits album in the car so that he would be well educated and well-prepared for the concert....which (FINALLY!) was tonight!

I took the day off just so I could be sure I
was not late to the concert or had to go through the trouble of switching shifts or anything like that. I had lots planned for my day...laying out, wedding stuff, etc....none of which I got done...it just started out as "one of those days". Then Spencer called me and said we should go out to dinner before the concert. I liked this idea. We decided to go to Nora's Italian Restaurant. But the wait when we got there was 45 minutes. We didn't have time for that. So we went elsewhere...lots of elsewheres....and everything was just under an hour to wait. We didn't have that kind of time. I was FRUSTRATED and starting to get MAD! (Mostly because I hadn't eaten since a bowl of a cereal this morning.) Finally we decided that all we had time for was the food court at the MGM Grand. So when we got inside, even the line for the food court was FOREVER LONG! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Our romantic dinner before the concert turned into a McDonald's picnic in the hallway behind the theater at the MGM Grand.I was sure after the kind of day I seemed to have been having, that something was going to go wrong and there wouldn't be a concert, but sure enough there was. It was an almost 3 hour concert with 2 encores and it was INCREDIBLE. I had read a lot of reviews about this concert saying that due to their sordid past, the band didn't seem unified, that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham barely acknowledged each other on stage, and that Stevie Nicks seemed timid and not that excited to be there. Everything was the opposite of what I read! They seemed to be having a BLAST together. Stevie and Lindsey made eye contact, held hands, hugged, kissed and even got emotional about one another's songs, and they were all there to party, including Stevie! They sang all my favorite songs and did other songs so incredibly that it made me appreciate them more than I had before. Storms, Silver Springs, and Gold Dust Woman were my favorite! :) Lindsey Buckingham is quite the guitarist...I was thoroughly impressed by him. It was AWESOME!
Waiting for the concert to start:
They opened with "Monday Morning"
"Gold Dust Woman"
First Encore: "World Turning"
Second Encore: "Silver Springs" (My favorite!)
Wow! As you can tell our seats were kinda far away...but it was still amazing...and thank goodness for jumbo video screens! :)

Clippity Clop!

When I was little I used to love this silly and probably very obnoxious horse. My Mom texted me a picture of my nephew playing on it while she was cleaning out the shed for a garage sale this morning! Ahhh, memories...
